PAINTING

My abstract paintings are layers of acrylic paint sometimes incorporating collaged elements. They start as a chaotic mix of marks and shapes and colors, some inspired by things around the studio. From there a back and forth begins as I respond to what I've put down with new lines and shapes, and I become absorbed in the subtleties of edges and nuances of color all while searching for structure and composition. There is no plan, just trust in my intuition balanced with the hardwired foundations of art learned through my education and experience.
